3/31

So with this comes the end of my project. My last 2 uploads are going to be my project and the CCR. From this project I learned a lot about how to manage and keep up with certain things. It was difficult at first but then after you get use to it, it becomes like second nature and a thing that is just constantly on your mind. My project mainly came out to how I wanted it too and I even learned how to do really smooth transitions with the film dissolve feature. It made one scene I had come out very nicely and it helped me perfectly show the repeat and how it worked. Overall I had a pretty fun time making this project because it really made me show my creativity and it helped me learn new things along the way.

I finished getting all of my footage and now it is time for the editing part of the opening. For the music I found some music with the YouTube studio audio library so it was free to use by everyone. The songs are eerie in both scenes. I made it like due to the fact of how hard it was gunna be to transition songs from happy to eerie within the span of 2 seconds. So with that in mind I decided to keep to the eerie music but to change it to even more eerie music to show that something is wrong. That was the only major change I had for my project so far. Other than that everything is going along smoothly and recording went smoothly as well.

3/29

I'm back from spring break and I've decided to start recording my opening just so I have time to edit which won't take long but it'll save me time i have for the end. My recording would be shot around 12-1 AM since I don't have much to record due to the fact that i'll be reusing some footage to show the repeat. I'll have the help of my mom to get some of the tracking shots of me walking and my feet for a tracking shot. The rest will be shot by me and it would mainly consist of medium shots and close ups. I could get all of my recording done in one day it will just take a couple takes but it shouldn't take long whatsoever. I plan on recording for around 3 hours maybe 3 and a half just so I can double check my shots and make sure I have the best shots needed for my opening.

Another topic I'm making final decisions for is the music I would use in my opening. I still plan on using some up beat music in the beginning to not immediately set the mood to that but to build up to it. My plan was to switch up the music right after the first repeat happens. After the repeat happens then I'd obviously change it to build up that kind of suspense. Only problem is how long the song would play for because I don't want that much suspense i just want enough for the person to realize that something bad is happening. So that would be me idea for the music for the whole opening.

3/24

So today I want to discuss my editing that I wanna do for my opening. I want to do like a dip to black opening of me waking up and getting out of bed. I don't know if I want to do jump cuts or smooth transitions that fade in between to make it seem like a slow morning. For my lighting I don't have to worry since I'll have natural lighting from the window and since the time I will record will provide a lot of lighting. For my credits I don't know if I want to roll them out at the end or throughout the beginning of the opening. I feel like it would be better if I rolled them out during the beginning and at the end of the opening I fade to black and have the word "Repeat" in bold letters in the middle of the screen to obviously show the title and just to add to the dramatic affect. All in all it should be about 1:30 so it should be just good enough for the time limit.

3/22

We've decided to stop in Orlando to split our trip up. This break will give me time to get connection and make a new post for this week. So while I was in the car I downloaded the movie Interstellar on my phone to rewatch it and see what I can incorporate from that movie into my opening. In the opening I saw some of the nice shots they had of inside the house when they were all describing how they lived with the sand storms and all of that. The only problem I have is the camera quality I have, I can set it to 4K but that doesn't make it the best when recording. I want to add some blurred shots in the opening when I'm doing my establishing shot to start the opening off. With the iPhone it's pretty hard to do it because you'd have to do it manually, but I can add it in the editing stage so that problem isn't a big problem. I'll also have to see what kind of edits I want in my opening. I'll discuss this in my next blog post so I have more empty space to write it.

3/19

I wanted to write this blog post because I don't think i'll have any connection at my grandparents since it's more on the country side of Florida in Lake City. They're more traditional and don't need internet where they are. So this gives me the perfect chance to really think of how I want to make my opening better before I officially record. This extra time will not be spent on recording so I'm closing my window for recording greatly but once I record I'll have a plan ready to record seemingly.

3/18

With spring break approaching I have to make my final decisions before I leave for a week up to my grandparents. At my grandparents I plan on figuring out my schedule a more and I plan to have it official by the end of next week. I want to think of ways to make my project look better visually and camera shot wise. Since I'll be using my phone to record my opening, the quality won't be as good as I want it to be but I'll have to use it to the best of my abilities. My phone is an iPhone X and I can change the quality of the video but it isn't like a dolby professional camera but it is what it is. I'm still sticking with my evening schedule and while I'm gone I plan on asking my family how they feel about my project and how they think I can improve on it and make it the best possible.

3/16

I have more of an understand when I want to record now and I plan on recording around the evening time because that is the time that resembles the morning the most with the sun setting. It also works because I can be more awake for me to understand what I'm doing and for me not to mess up any little thing in the recording. I still plan on using my water bottle and blanket idea to help show the viewer when the time repeats. With this new evening schedule I'll also have to resemble everything like it's morning. For example the establishing shot I want to get at the beginning has to resemble the morning but that shouldn't be bad since the evening best resembles the early in the morning.

3/14

Today I plan on setting a final schedule for my recording since I have plans for spring break. I plan on recording after spring break happens so that I can plan more over my spring break and what I want to do. I plan on getting some feed back from my family since I'm going to be with my family over spring break. After the week is over and I return home, I want to work over the week before Easter and maybe on good Friday on April 2nd. I've had to change my shooting schedule to the afternoon time because it's more convenient and I have more time to record and set everything up as opposed to the morning time when I originally had it set. The afternoon brings the only issue of the sunlight effect I want to have because it would be around the middle of the day. I'll have to figure that out later in the week but for now I'm still planning recording schedules.

3/12

For this blog post I'm going to be showing my storyboard and the thought process behind the shots that I want to do. Through out my recording I might change up some of these shots due to if I feel like they are necessary changes or not.

The blog post is sideways but this is the first bit of my story board but as you can see I'm still on my idea shot wise. The beginning is going to open up with a nice little establishing shot of my window and the nice outside to indicate the morning. The second slide is suppose to represent a blanket falling off my bed so that it becomes a little hint when i record it a second time that time has repeated. I didn't add the water bottle to the story board but I still plan on adding it because it would represent the time repeats as well. The rest of the shots are just of me getting up and then getting ready for my day. I plan on getting a tracking shot of my feet walking to the bathroom to then show the water bottle scene.
This second page of my story board includes the whole bathroom scene to set the stage for the time repeat because my character does stuff that represents stuff that you cant get back like drinking water. So when the time repeats and the water is back into the bottle that is when the viewer and the character realize time repeats and then it shows the character leaving and then he's back in bed and then it gets to him back at the water bottle and then he realizes that the water is filled up again and then it goes to black and then shows the name.

3/10

This week I've done some research on how to record my opening. I decided to get a tripod over the weekend to get steady shots on my opening because I don't plan on getting any hand held shots in my opening. I've found some music in the YouTube music tab that is royalty free that will do just fine for my opening. I used this material from a past project in this Media class for my sound project and it also worked out then so I'm hoping this works out now. For this project I plan on working along so I can better entrust myself that I can be reliant on myself and to test my creativity and skills. I'm going to set up my room and think of the whole creative process so I can test myself. In my next blog I will describe my creative process with a visual on my story board and a explanation on why I chose to do the shots I want to do.

Portfolio Project 3/1

For this week I plan on recording either Wednesday or Saturday due to the fact that I want to record in the morning. If scheduling in the morning doesn't work out for me then I'll have to change the setting and the idea for my opening. I feel like I am prepared to change my idea at anytime if needed.  I also plan on working more on my storyboard to give myself a visual on what I want to and to better plan out my scenery.

CCR

This is my CCR for my project. Thank you again for sticking with me throughout this whole journey, it was fun!! CCR!
